Driving A Passenger Van Rental

The Ins And Outs Of Passenger Vans

What if this is my first time driving a passenger van?

When renting any of our vans, the guest will receive a vehicle orientation. This will include what type of fuel to use, how to fill DEF, how to use all of the amenities, how to drive larger vehicles, and more. It is the drivers responsibility to know how to drive a large passenger van.

Do you offer roadside assistance?

Roadside assistance is included in your van rental. This includes towing, flat tire assistance, and locksmith services. Drivers will receive all of the information regarding roadside assistance and who to contact during their orientation.

Can I take my van rental off-road?

Off-roading with a MileMarker van rental is prohibited. This includes closed roads, closed trails, and 4×4 trails or tracks. If you break down in a restricted area, the renter is fully responsible for the towing and repair costs. If a 4×4 or extraction vehicle is needed, we will conclude that our van was taken on forbidden terrain and the renter is fully responsible for towing and repair costs. This includes the van’s alignment, shocks, and struts.

Can I drive my van rental on unpaved roads?

Unpaved roads are permitted, but we recommend you use our “Should I Drive This Guide” when determining if a road is safe to drive on. MileMarker’s rule of thumb is, if you are questioning it, you probably shouldn’t drive it.

Do I have to buy Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF)?

Some of our vehicles are diesel and will require DEF. The driver will be instructed on everything regarding DEF during orientation.

What type of fuel do the vans take?

You are responsible for putting in the proper fuel in the van. If the van is filled with the wrong type of fuel, you will be responsible for the mechanical repair that could be the replacement of the entire engine costing approximately $20,000. You will be trained on what type of fuel the van takes. This will be done in front of video surveillance that has sound. There will be an addendum in the rental contract that will clearly state which type of fuel is correct, and you must sign that you received the training on the fuel type

If you accidentally put in the wrong fuel, DO NOT START THE VEHICLE! Call our service line, and we will get the van towed to one of our outposts
