June

June kicks off summer with the Denver Chalk Art Festival on June 10th and 11th. You will be mesmerized by the vibrant colors and intricate designs of over 200 artists as they transform the streets of Larimer Square into a stunning outdoor gallery.

Visitors can watch the artists at work, chat with them about their techniques and inspiration, and even participate in some of the interactive art activities. The event also features live music, food vendors, and a beer garden to enjoy while taking in the colorful and vibrant atmosphere.

If you’re looking for something more action-packed or to experience the best of summer in the mountains, head to Salida for the FIBark Whitewater Festival June 15th through the 18th. FIBark stands for “First in Boating on the Arkansas” and is the oldest whitewater festival in the country.

Celebrating its 75th year, this festival is not for the faint of heart. With thrilling kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and rafting competitions, you’ll be on the edge of your seat. The festival features a variety of land-based events as well, including live music, a carnival, food trucks and more, making it a fun-filled event for visitors of all ages.

The real foodie in you will come alive on June 4th and July 9th at the Taste of Colorado festival. With over 50 of Denver’s best restaurants and food trucks serving up mouth-watering cuisine from around the world, you’ll indulge in an unforgettable culinary experience. July

July is the height of summer, and Colorado knows how to celebrate. From Denver to Breckenridge, towns and cities throughout the state put on incredible Independence Day celebrations with fireworks, parades, and concerts.

But for a more low-key experience, head to Crested Butte for the Wildflower Festival. July 7th through the 16th. With guided hikes, photography workshops, and garden tours, you’ll be surrounded by stunning wildflowers that will take your breath away. August

In August, we have the opportunity to celebrate Colorado’s mining history with  Leadville’s Boom Days August 4th through the 6th. The festival activities include a burro race, live music, and historical reenactments, and visitors are transported back in time to experience the mining boom. The event caters to all ages with experiences such as gold panning and gunfight reenactments.
